Panasonic Mixer Grinder Review : Top Models, Features & Performance
It has been almost 6 years since we bought our Panasonic Mixer grinder with 3 jars.
Our 15 year old Sumeet mixer grinder broke down and I and my mother walked to nearby Bismi Electronics to buy a mixer grinder. We saw Panasonic and were instantly sold. Of course, the eloquent sales man played a role! But what we really loved was the double lock safety system, fine yet sturdy jars and overall appeal. Though the motor has just 550 watt power, its performance is almost at par with a 750 watt mixer grinder, heck, we even grind idili batter in it easily. In the past 6 years, we had to take it just once to the repair shop to get one of the jars fixed. Otherwise it has been running just fine. When my brother shifted to a new home, my mother gave the Panasonic Mixer grinder to them and bought a Preethi.
The combination of Japanese technology and Indian make customized for the Indian style of cooking makes Panasonic undoubtedly one of the best mixer grinders in India. The fact that it is an Amazon Choice product reaffirms this. The company has manufacturing facility for mixer grinders in Chennai and exports 30% of their production to West Asia, Latin America and Africa.
In this review of Panasonic Mixer Grinders, we discuss about the performance, safety aspects, user-friendliness and its pros and cons.
Panasonic MX-AC400 550-Watt 4-Jar Super Mixer Grinder
- Highly durable and efficient
- Dual locking system that ensures safety while operating
- The lids might pop up a little while running the mixer grinder continuously.
- Might take a few days to get a hang of how to lock the jars and lids.
We have always recommended using 750 watt mixer grinders for heavy duty domestic grinding. But Panasonic mixer grinders are an exception. Though they have 550 Watt motor, its performance, grinding efficiency and consistency is at par with a 750 watt mixer grinder. They are also one of the few brands that have immaculate safety features in place.
The chutney jar has 400 ml capacity, the next bigger jar has 600 ml capacity, the multi-jar has 1100 ml capacity and the juicer jar has 1500 ml capacity. The juicer jar comes with a nano-sieve to separate juice from the pulp. Using the food pusher, you can keep on adding the fruits/vegetables for juicing without having to switch off the mixer grinder every now and then.
Now, let us take a look at its locking mechanism, which we must say is one of its major highlights. The dual lock safety system comprises lid lock and jar lock. The lid has a lock close to its handle which makes it almost leak-proof, provided you don’t over-fill the jars. The jars have to be placed and rotated in a particular manner to lock it. The mixer grinder will not start running unless the jar is properly locked to the base. First time users may take a few trial and errors to lock the jar correctly. But rest assured in a matter of just 3-4 days you will become an expert at using it.
Though locking systems are well-thought out, it has a small drawback. After using it for about 6-8 months, you may find that the washer of the chutney jar starts getting a tad loose. At this time, running the grinder for a few minutes might result in the lid moving up a little, but not completely out. If the jar contains anything liquid, it is likely to overflow in such instance. Hence, you may have to keep your hand on top of it while running.
Talking about the performance, Panasonic Mixer Grinders are quite efficient and can mix, grind, chop and crush with ease. Be it making curry paste, coconut paste, idili batter or for extracting coconut milk, the mixer grinder takes care of every task effortlessly, thanks to the highly energy efficient motor and samurai stainless steel blades. If you are need something to grind meat and knead atta, it would be better to opt for a food processor.
Cleaning the jars is also fairly easy. Though you can detach the blades for thorough cleaning, it is advised to just rinse and wash just like other utensils. The nano-sieve of the juicer jar however does requires a little more effort for thorough cleaning.
Overall, Panasonic mixer grinders are durable, highly efficient and a safe choice. Though there are different models, basic safety aspects and features remain almost the same. The difference mainly lies in the number of jars.
