Preethi is one of the most popular kitchen appliance brand in South India that is specialized in mixer grinders. They established themselves in 1978 and are pioneers who introduced various innovations like 3 jar mixer grinders, the launch of super extractor, grind and store in 2002, launch of 750 Watt motor with ISI accreditation in 2007 and so on. They were acquired by Royal Philips in 2011.
The durable product range, expansive customer service centres and reputation are some of the highlights of Preethi. Having used Preethi mixer grinder at my mother’s home, I can definitely say that they do deliver on their promise.
Even though Preethi is a pan-India brand, their popularity is much higher in South India, owing to their wide presence of dealers, distributors and retailers in every nook and corner. Preethi unfortunately doesn’t have such a formidable presence in the North India. In fact, some of the online reviews even suggest scarcity of service centres in certain cities and towns in North India.
With a long-standing reputation of selling durable products, Preethi is one of the best options when it comes to mixer grinders. The wide variety of mixer grinders they sell are superior in performance—in terms of energy consumption and motor strength; safe and stable with overload protection, anti-slip feet and above all, their products are fairly easy to use and compact.
Now, let us take a look at some of the best-selling Preethi Mixer Grinders. Here we discuss the important features, performance and user reviews too.

Preethi Blue Leaf Diamond 750-Watt Mixer Grinder
Blue Lead range of Preethi mixer grinders have been a huge success in India. They are moderately priced, yet have powerful 750-watt motor, stainless steel jars and blades and a shock proof body with anti-skid base making it a safe and reliable mixer grinder suitable for every Indian home.
The mixer grinder comes with 3 jars. The main jar has 4 blades while the other 2 has two blades each. The main jar has 1.7 L capacity and can be used for 0.7 L wet grinding, 0.5 L dry grinding and 1 Litre blending. The middle-sized jar with 0.7 L capacity can be used for 0.4 L wet grinding and 0.2 L dry grinding. The lids of the main and mid-sized jars can be interchanged to convert the 1.7 L jar in to a 1 L jar. The chutney jar has 0.5 L capacity with 0.3 L dry and 0.2 L wet grinding.
As you can see, the mid-sized jar usually provided has around 1 L capacity, which is not the case here. This makes it a tad too small for grinding coconut paste, masala etc.
Overall, the mixer grinder is not too noisy. Though it could get a bit hot while grinding, overall it is capable of grinding in to smooth paste—be it masala, coconut paste or even idili batter. The flexi-lids are an added advantage too. Initially, you might find it hard to open and close the jar lids. But within about 2-4 weeks use, it becomes easier to fit.
If affordable, we would suggest you to opt for the Preethi Blue Leaf Platinum 750-Watt Mixer Grinder as it comes with an additional super extractor jar for making juices and extracting coconut milk, a grind and store chutney jar and an additional jar for storing. Note however that the chutney jar has polycarbonate outer layer and stainless steel interiors.
Preethi Zodiac MG 218 750-Watt Mixer Grinder
Preethi Zodiac MG 218 is yet another best-selling mixer grinder from Preethi. It is not just a mixer grinder, but a complete food processor as it can grind, chop, knead atta and it even has a citrus extractor.
The unit comes with 5 jars which includes a juicer, master chef food processor jar, a dry grinding and wet grinding jar and an additional chutney jar too. With superior performance, satisfactory grinding texture and being fairly easy to clean, Preethi Zodiac is a highly-recommended option for every Indian home.

Preethi Steel Supreme MG-208 750-Watt Mixer Grinder
Other than the looks and body finish, there is hardly any difference between Preethi Steel Supreme and Preethi Blue Leaf Platinum. Both have powerful 750 watt motor and four jars including a juicer extractor. The exteriors of Preethi Steel Supreme MG 208 mixer grinder has smudge free stainless steel finish and the handles are chrome plated to give it a classy appearance.
Though the body has stainless steel finish, it does have a shock-proof casing beneath so you don’t have to worry about occurrence of any untoward incidents. Most reviews are of the opinion that the mixie is a bit too noisy. In fact, it is found to be noisier than Preethi Blue Leaf comparatively.
If you think the juicer extractor jar wouldn’t be of much use to you, you could opt for Preethi Steel Max MG-212 mixer grinder.
Preethi Popular MG 142 750-Watt Mixer Grinder
With 100% stainless steel jars, anti-skid vacuum feet and a durable body, Preethi Popular is a budget friendly mixer grinder suiting with the needs of a South Indian kitchen. One of my relatives have been using it since the past 4 years and though they had to change the blades of the medium sized jar once, overall, they are happy with the performance.
The chutney jar’s blades are in-built and can be removed only by technicians while the other two jars have removable blades. So, it is easy to change them if you find it losing sharpness after a while.
Performance wise, while Preethi Zodiac might take just a minute to grind some coriander in to powder, Preethi Popular would take a longer time. The jars do get heated too—though not to an intolerable level.
Overall, it is a budget-friendly option that is pretty durable and satisfactory in performance too.
Preethi Xpro Duo MG 198 Mixer Grinder
With 1300 Watt motor and highly durable body and jars, Preethi Xpro Duo MG 198 Mixer Grinder is made for heavy duty grinding—be it home or at a café or small restaurant.
The jars are made of highly durable stainless steel and the lids come with 3-point lock that facilitates hands-free and leak proof operations. The larger jar has a 2 L capacity, while the smaller chutney jar has 0.75 L capacity, making it apt for families with more than 5-6 members. Not only can you wet grind masala and coconut paste, but can also dry grind spices for your daily use fairly easily.
In fact, if you are a nuclear family with 4 or less members, do NOT buy this mixie as you won’t be able to grind such small quantity of chutney or masala paste in the chutney jar to a smooth texture.
Being a heavy-duty mixer grinder, it has a maximum RPM of 18000 cycles without load and 10,000 cycles with load. It can be run continuously for 5 minutes’ post with it needs to be given 2 minutes’ rest. Such a way, it can be run for a maximum of 30 minutes and at least 45 minutes of rest time has to be given post a long run to enhance its durability.
That it doesn’t have a smaller jar may seem a major drawback, but such a high-power mixer grinder cannot properly run with a very small quantity of food in a smaller jar.
Overall, it is a great fit for joint families, thanks to the large capacity and high power. Not only can you make fairly large quantity of idili batter easily, but can also dry grind spices like coriander, chilly and turmeric easily.
